Designed by the well –known architect Ram Sharma and Sculptor Sankho Chaudhuri for the Asia Trade Fair in 1972, the Village Complex was later incorporated into the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy when it moved to its present site. It comprises 15 structures- village dwellings, courtyards, shrines- from different parts of India, built in facsimile with skills and materials of the respective regions.
