NATIONAL CRAFTS MUSEUM & HASTKALA ACADEMY

Subject: Rental policy

National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy is having following space available for organizing exhibitions and other programs which fulfill the objective of the museum & academy with or without collaboration with the Craft Museum. Proposals for exhibitions and other programs to be submitted as per format well in advance.

Three open- Air theatres (Kadambari, Saranga and Angan Manch)

(b)

Village Complex Area

(c)

Audio-Visual Room

(d)

Special exhibition Gallery

I. Guidelines for Exhibition and other programmers:

The categories of agencies eligible to apply are those directly involved in the design and production of handicrafts and hand looms, including master weavers and artisans, NGOs, designers with a substantial involvement of the craft and other social sector.

1. Exhibition:

(a).

The National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy in association with other reputed Institutions can hold exhibitions.

(b).

Exhibitions by institutions/organizations/individuals on themes related to handicraft and hand looms, Arts and Crafts, customary practices etc.

(c).

Exhibition by non government organizations for the sole purpose of selling and buying like in a mella will not be entertained.

2. Other programs:

Programs related to Art and Crafts, Tourism and other Social Sector subjects can be held which are not commercial in nature.

3. The spaces allotted for each exhibition/program may vary from a day to twelve weeks excluding time for preparation of the exhibition/program.

II. Guidelines for Photography:
(a)

Photography in the Museum premises should be generally encouraged to disseminate information and to share widely the aims and objectives of the museum, provided it is not detrimental to the Museum or its cultural property, taking into consideration the sensitive nature of the objects.

(b)

Photography with professional Cameras for any commercial purpose will be charged.

III. Guidelines for Filming:
(a)

Video-filming in all the open areas of the Museum Complex, excluding the Galleries, the Visual Store and the Village Complex huts may be permitted, on written requests, to all visitors in so far as it does not affect the displayed objects, does not obstruct visitors movement, does not involve shooting theatrical or such other situations involving characters, actors, players, models or anchor-persons where the Museum premises are used merely as backdrop. An anchor-person may be allowed if the film is on the Museum itself or on any or its related objectives.

(b)

Video- filming inside the Galleries may also be permitted to the extent that such action will not be detrimental to the objects and regular activities of the museum are not hampered.

(c)

Such shooting should be generally permitted for up to 8 hours between 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. A refundable deposit should be taken in advance and against receipt that will be used to indemnify any damages caused. If the damage caused is much higher than this amount, the party shooting at the Museum will be liable to pay complete damage.

(d)

In the case of a film being made on the Museum itself, considering the benefit of publicity, suitable relaxation may be granted to these rules.

IV. Guidelines for Performing Arts:
(a)

Quality performances and programs related to dance, music, theatre or any such other performing art events, which are not commercial in nature, by duly registered organizations and Government bodies to be encouraged. Rehearsals for such performing arts are permitted only during office hours.

(b)

The spaces may also be allowed for holding functions by Govt. organizations or registered bodies or non-profit making bodies/individuals broadly related to Museum objectives and activities, Handicrafts, Handlooms, nature & environment and culture.

(c)

Fashion Shows may be allowed to be held by Govt. organizations or reputed registered bodies for the sole purpose of information dissemination and promotion of art, culture, textiles, handloom and handicrafts products. Fees should be charged in advance, at the time of granting permission and in cash, against a receipt as non-refundable fee. However, if the event is cancelled 24 hours before its scheduled time, the amount will be refunded fully.

V. Others
(a).

A cash security deposit should be taken against receipt from the organizers of performing arts program and fashion shows respectively towards any possible damage or irregularity. The extent of damage and Liability under the deposit amount or beyond will be borne by the organizers.

(c)

If any organizer wishes to serve hold or cold (non-alcoholic) beverages and light

Programs can be cancelled by competent authority if the venue is to be used for in house program without any prior notice. Likewise, if the programs are no seen to be in tendon with the aims and objectives of the museum, such program s are liable to be cancelled without notice.

(f)

No entry fee to be charged or visitors/participants of the show.

(g)

No separate electricity charges shall be charged

(h)

Security Deposit will be returned subject to condition that space & area utilized is handed over back to museum authority in the same condition as it was given to them:­-

(i)

Use of P.A systems and large gathering of visitors may require suitable permission of the Civil authorities during fashion shows & cultural programs. The same to be arranged by the organizers.

(j)

Precautions of fire safety and electrical safety to be kept in consideration as the village complex is largely made up of combustible substances.

(k)

Parking of vehicles may need additional part of organizers etc.

(I)

The organizers of programs should ensure proper cleaning up of the spaces used by them, immediately on finishing the program and before leaving the premises.

(m)

If at any stage, any activity / program of the concerned party is found to be detrimental to Museum's property, image or activity, the Museum will have sole ri ht to stop the program / activity. The amount paid as fee will not be returned in such an event.

    VI. Rental

    Film shooting
  • - Rs. 10,000/- per day
  • (g)
    Fashion Show program
  • -Rs. 20,000/- per day
  • (h)
    Security Deposit
  • - Rs 10,000 for fashion show
  • - Rs. 2,500/- for other programs
  • - Rs. 5,000/- for film shooting.
