Old gold hair ornament (tress studded with relics and other gems). White limitative pearls. The cobra-hood on top is symbolic of sexuality and procreation as are the peacock pairs arranged, one above the other, along the length of the ornament. This braid ornament or jadanagah, jada meaning "hair'' and naga meaning "snake", is an important element in the devadasi's or temple dancer's costume whose hair must always be long and styled in a braid. It is worn in conjunction with other hair ornaments such as circular medallions, or jada-billies) of the sun, surya bimbas) or of the moon, chandra bimbas, worn on either side of the parting.
