This is a measuring bowl from South India, also known as Kunke. The bowl is made up of palm wood with embossed motifs on it made of brass. The bowl adorns beautiful double headed bird, bracelet and trefoil motifs. There are linear patterns between the motifs. The shape of the bowl is similar to the shape of a ginger jar. The pot is supported by a ring on the base.

- Socio economicKunke is a rice measuring bowl used for rice/paddy in Bengali traditions, weddings and prayers. As part of the ritual, Kunke is used to offer paddy to the Goddess Lakshmi during Kojagari Lakshmi Puja. It is even used in marriage rituals when the groom smears vermilion or sindoor on the hair parting of the bride.
